Today is Maundy Thursday in the Holy week. I have read passion story in the book of Matthew this morning, asked several questions with "what if". You might have asked the same questions like me. The questions are not that impressive but I was wondering what really would happen. The first question has occurred at a scene of Gethsemane when Jesus went out for serious prayers, the disciples fell asleep deeply. What if they did not fall asleep and really prayed deeply with Jesus? How about Peter? What if he really prayed that night then would he deny Jesus still three times? What if Jesus prayed to God only for removing his cup? Did God answer his prayer? I know that it sounds too simple to even answer. However, I have thought about them. What if Peter did not deny but said "I am one of Jesus' disciples? What if Pilate told the Israelite that he could not put Jesus to be crucified? what if one of soldiers stood up for Jesus when he was beaten, said "don't beat...
I don't remember when we started reading our bible in the sanctuary last year. I think it was in the fall. We are now in the middle of 2 Chronicles. Reading bible loudly has been helping me in many ways. Mostly, I enjoy so much especially prayers of prophets, great kings like David. I read from chapter 20 to 22 this morning. In chapter 20, I was stunned by the scene of a prayer. Most time when I read the bible, scenes are alive like watching movie right now. It happened this morning too. I could see Jehoshaphat and people kneeling down in front of God asking mercy. When Jehoshaphat heard that a vast army is coming to fight with them, he did not prepare the war at all. Instead, he did kneel down and told all the people even children and women to do same with him in front of God. Most amazing thing was Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing the Lord and to praise Him for the splendor of his Holiness with " Give Thanks to the Lord for His love endures forever!" The Lord set ambus...
God has given us a special tool for only human. It could be nicely used to save people, or the other way. Even though most people do use them in daily life, none of people know how to use it properly in God's way. Yes, it is "words". Animals can communicate with their signals and sounds but human has language to communicate each other. However, I think that this tool can be the most dangerous to use without any conscious. That is why it is so dangerous. Lately, I have had chances to observe several people nearby how they speak, and chose words to express their thoughts and feelings. Interestingly enough, the words have been causes of hurting or loving chain reactions. Even though we know so well that we need to be careful what we say, it is very hard to control our mouth without our effort and disciplines . If we see how Jesus used His words to people, we could see how powerful it was. When Jesus cursed the fig tree, it dried up right away. It happened exactly to me once ...
